MY BEARD GANG CHRONICLE PT 1

Not been post trendy for a long while. The fact that my country has been going through different phases of political, social, and economical changes, I myself included. Man must chop, living the good life is very much on my priority list.

One thing you don't know about me is that I like my hair well and fully grown before taking it down again, and by hair I mean scalp and facial hair. This for a very long time has been an issue with me and my mom. It has always been 'war of the words' when it came to that aspect. On my good days I can form 'not hearing' for as long as I'm ready to then take my hair down. But recently, experience has taught me that when a woman wants something done or likes something done in a particular way there's nothing you can pretty much do about it. The longer you stay adamant, the more irritated you become as a man because they won't stop...My mom will be like 'have you checked the mirror?', she goes on to say ' you know I've been telling you, if i was a lady and you approached me mhn mhn, i will not even give you face" and i I'm like ehn leave it like that, sebi that one is you.

For another hour or more I have peace of mind, until she just looks at me again (I can see and feel the exasperation in her look) and says in Yoruba 'bawo lo ma gbe oju e bayii, abi oo mo pe oo fine ni (how would you leave your hair untidy like this, don't you know it makes you ugly). I just make a very nonchalant facial expression and go on with whatever I was doing at the time. Days go by, then weeks, as if her exasperation is not enough, she calls my sister(s) to weigh in on the matter. And as always I reiterate my stance that I like leaving my hair be a long while before bringing it down, every talk from there I pay no mind too, the teasing, mocking and all.

When a woman (mother/wife) wants to put you out of your egostic realm, they have a very subtle and fierce way they go about it. Sometimes, it makes me wonder who really runs the world (Beyonce has a very strong case). When my mom's had it up to here with my defiance to still keep my hair, she lays down the MOMMY'S ULTIMATUM. If you're a son who loves his mom and always love to see her happy, then my brother you've got no choice, you have to honor the ultimatum. Seriously you can't be pissed about it.

After all, what is LOVE?

To be continued...

CALL OUT YOUR JOSEPH

Bible characters have always being a very interesting topic. I get to read and immerse myself into the story and lives of the various characters God used to show forth His glory. This post is directed to Christians; youths and adults alike, and also to anyone who is willing to be touched by it. I do have a thing for Joseph though. Yeah Joseph…... Joseph was a lot of things: He was young, in turn innocent and naive. He had a dream, which turned out be his vision and destiny. He was loved by his father, envied by his brothers. He was sold, he slaved, and finally he rose from the ashes and became a model for Christian youths today. My focus on his story is when he found himself in the lair of the seductress/temptress. Many youths/adults alike today will never pass on sex. In fact it has become a standard for being a man, so whenever one has the chance to prove him/herself worthy to their friends, they heed its call. Well as for me I beg to differ just like Joseph did....

TALE OF TWO GIRLS

She’s jovial, she’s smart, and she’s interesting She doesn’t know much but always open to learn I find her very captivating and I’m attracted to her personality She says I make her laugh; she thinks I’m funny She knows I got her back; she knows I like her She’s my friend, I’m her friend She likes it that way, but I want more She knows how I feel, I respect her decision She not ready she says; she’s already taken, I know Maybe one day she’ll come around; maybe she’d reconsider I just hope I won’t have moved on…

GOD, LOVE, AND RELATIONSHIPS

I’m no expert in relationships, but the ideas most people have about it are most of the time very baffling, especially when it comes to the aspect of love. Now I’m not taking a general stand or view of it, my perspective is from the Christian view. Yes I mean Christian relationships! As a man, I want a God-fearing lady who is virtuous, intelligent (able to spark a conversation with on politics, ICT or general issues). The same may go for a Lady (add financial security to the list) who’s waiting for her prince charming to come. Though some profess to be Christians, yet a lot of time their lives and relationships reflect a purely human ideology and understanding of love. How can we say we understand love and leave God out of its definition? God is love, and He expressed it to us by sending His Son Jesus Christ to bear all our sins so that His perfection will be placed on our account through His sacrifice on the cross of Calvary. Instead of accepting God's definition of l...
